Ahoy Pelagians!
Summer and unpredictable weather is with us. Some of us have sailed and enjoyed a few good days on the water. We have applicants in all three categories and evaluations underway for our new members.
A happy 4th of July to all members, their families, and friends. Many will gather for a BBQ somewhere, a dinner outing and a sail if the weather is good!
We have held three open Pelagic member meetings this year. We had our annual potluck dinner at the April meeting, and we served pizza at the May and June meetings. All three meetings were well attended, and zoom was working fine as we implemented some high-tech audio and video equipment with a dedicated laptop for our meetings. Thank you to all who helped set up and take a station or two at our meetings.
We postponed the social event on spectacle island due to several concerns on the island and their docks and emails will come later about our new proposed date for an island Pelagic picnic soon. It has always been a fun event, and we can take boats or the ferry there and enjoy meeting our members and touring the island.
The northern and southern cruises are taking place soon and of course many of us will be working with the Tall Ships visiting for Sail Boston in the second week of July. Lots of fun for sure and please visit the ships and us if you can or sign up to work with us through Meryl and Craig.
We encourage all members to pursue an evaluation of an applicant at any opportunity and applicants to reach out on our email or respond to an email when a member can offer a sail and evaluation. Our mission and bylaws state that: we are to bring competent boat owners, crew, and skippers for the mutual benefit of sailing.
