Join Pelagic for a presentation by Jonathan Fulford that will take you north to cooler waters around Labrador and Newfoundland on a sailboat!
Jonathan Fulford is a climate activist and sailor from Belfast. He has lived in Maine for forty-three years, been a builder for thirty-five years before shifting his focus on to climate justice activism. He is currently active in several different non-profit organizations including Sierra Club, Pine Tree Power, and Upstream Watch.
Jonathan’s love for the North and being on the water has led him to many adventures from canoeing rivers in northern Quebec, and the Noatak River in Alaska, to sailing in S.E. Alaska on a steel Roberts 35, and more recently a four-month trip from Belfast to the top of Labrador in 2019 and a three- and half-month long sail around Newfoundland in the summer of 2022 on the Dawn B, his BCC28. On the Newfoundland trip twenty people joined the trip for different legs of the voyage.
These trips have been an opportunity to witness and share the beauty of these lands and waters as well as meet and talk with the people for whom these places are their home.
The changes they are observing to the sea, the weather, and the animals in the higher latitudes are dramatic.
Jonathan will share stories and images from his most recent trips to Labrador and Newfoundland.
