Joining Pelagic Sailing Club has improved my sailing life in three ways.
- First of all, it makes it much easier to find crew, both for day sails and for longer cruises. These are qualified crew, not just warm bodies.
- Secondly, I’ve been able to recruit for help commissioning my boat in the spring and decommissioning in the fall. Getting help putting on and taking off the winter cover has been a tremendous help.
- Thirdly, I became a member of a great community that shares a common interest in sailing.
When I went to my first Pelagic meeting at the Savin Hill Yacht Club, a new board was being assembled. One of the board members commented that “being on the board was the single best way to meet members and jump right in the club.”
I did that – his advice was golden.
